We hope you are enjoying the fun and games this week, Billy really is having fun hiding from you all.

Remember whilst the fun and games are great fun, at GBNH we are dedicated to encouraging new cloth nappy users and this week is no exception.

We have compiled a list of all the Real Nappy Events going on around the country, by county so you can find something near to you. At one of these events you can find out more about cloth nappies and see them in action, it’s a great way to see how easy cloth nappies are while saving in so many ways.

The lengthy list of Cloth Nappy Libraries, all of whom are in action over this busy week, are all keen to share their knowledge and encourage you to try them out too.

Find your local library

We also have a huge list of some great Real Nappy Retailers to buy from and to demonstrate real nappies (again by county so you can find your nearest.)

Where to Buy

All our listed retailers have had their sites checked and are compliant with current online selling regulations, so you can be sure they are a safe place to shop from.

CLOTH CLINIC

Billy’s organisational team have many years experience between them – pick their brains, let them help you, whether you are new to cloth and want some guidance on where to start, or an existing user wanting trouble shooting help let the team help you!

Join us on the Facebook page on Thursday evening 8.30 – 9.30pm for our popular CLOTH CLINIC.

We had a few questions about How to Hunt on the Facebook page, so have put together a short list of FAQs to help you get the most out of the Hunt for Billy.

I’m confused! What do I have to do?

There are two hunts. Register here to enter.

Main Hunt – where you find Billy by visiting various sites.

On each Billy icon you find there is a phrase within an image. Click on the found Billy and you are taken to an entry page that shows the image phrase and a code word (or words) in Red below. Enter either the image phrase or the red code word to submit each entry, along with your email address. You can then use the Billy Tracker to keep track of which Hunt retailers you have completed.

Baby Hunt – instant entry with a fantastic prize to be won on each website. You can hunt the sites in any order, the Billy Tracker will remember your entries as you go, and you can log back in and carry on any time.

I can’t find Billy. Please can I have a clue?

Billy is hiding on various retailer sites and has already been found by hundreds of you. There’s no set order in which to find Billy. You can try a different site and the Billy Tracker will keep tabs on where you’ve found him for you.

You can also take a break and come back with fresh eyes later.

If this isn’t for you, try our Baby Hunt. This is a super-fast event – you only need to find Billy on the one web site to be in with a chance to win their generous prize donation.

Alternatively hang about towards the end of the week and we’re sure the participating retailers will let slip some clues. Make sure you’ve liked their Facebook pages to keep up to date.

I’ve found a Billy, but no code word(s). Help!

The phrase words are on the images with Billy and you need to click on the image to submit your entry, where you will see the image phrase along with a bit of context copy and a RED code word. Either the code word or image phrase are fine as entries.

I’ve found a Billy, but he has no code word, just “save more”.

Yes that is just what you are looking for. Enter and submit it – SAVE MORE or MORE are both fine.
Do I need to find Billy for every single retailer?

On the Main Hunt you need to find and submit correct entries for ALL 25 RETAILERS to enter the competition.

On the Easy Hunt you only need to find the generic Billy & Baby Bella image and enter for the chance to win that particular retailer’s prize.

Can I change my prize choice?

You would need to submit under a new email address to change your prize choices, which would mean re-entering all the phrase codes again.

How will prizes be allocated?

All prizes will be allocated based on those who have completed the Hunt successfully and as closely as possible to your preferred choices.
The Billy pictures I’ve found so far have more than one word in them – are we supposed to enter them all or just the red keyword.

Either is fine as a correct entry.

Guess what I’ll be doing at work tomorrow?

Will Billy’s Tracker work on another computer and remember where I’ve been?

Yes just sign in again on the new computer, and Billy’s tracker will have all saved all the code words you’ve found so far.

I can’t search a retailers website as it’s crashed.

Sometimes during the Hunt a retailer site might struggle with the amount of traffic, run slowly or even be unavailable for a while. If this happens you can go search for another Billy and come back to that retailer later.

As the Hunt has no path this year, the traffic is much more spread out however.

I’ve found Billy, but the link doesn’t seem to be working for mobile devices? It doesn’t link to the entry page.

We are sorry but although Billy’s pages are optimised for mobiles, not all the retailers’ websites may be. We don’t suggest hunting on a mobile as stated in our rules for this reason. Many of the retailers have added a text link alongside to help you. Alternatively you could try a laptop or desktop.

Is it first to finish win a Main Prize?

All entries go into a draw for the prizes and are allocated wherever possible based on the options you entered when signing up.

You have all Real Nappy Week to complete the Hunt.

Entry will close at Midnight on Sunday 4th May 2014. Any entries received after this time will not be included in the prize draw.

I signed up to the mailing list, so I need to register separately to take part in the Hunt?

Yes you do. Because we use the Billy Tracker and collect all your entries to a database, you need to register with your email address for the actual Hunt.

I signed up late to the mailing list and I can’t see previous mail updates.

Mailing list updates are also posted on the blog after they have gone out so you can catch up with them all there.

What are the prizes to be won?

Have a look at the Hunt Prize videos on our facebook page or blog for more details.

For those already submerged in the lovely cloth nappy world, you will probably familiar with Helen, aka Petit Mom. Helen is a regular on all the cloth nappy forums and often found advising about cloth nappies on various forms of social media. She is a self-confessed cloth nappy addict! To celebrate Real Nappy Week, we asked her to share the reasons why she started using cloth nappies.

Lack of space

When I was pregnant with my son we talked about using cloth nappies. We had just moved into a second floor two bed flat and the idea of trying to dry cloth nappies when we barely had space to dry clothes freaked me out. We didn’t have a tumble drier and even if we could afford one we had no idea where it could go, as the kitchen wasn’t exactly great with use of space. We didn’t actually have anywhere to put a decent freezer (we got a small one and put it on the worktop in the end) it was pretty daft design wise anyway.

Blogging

When my son was born a friend suggested I start a baby blog and that is when Petit Mom was created. Cloth nappies weren’t even on my mind at the time and I just blogged about weaning, breastfeeding and the usual stuff we parents talk about. Suddenly I got an email asking me to try out a cloth nappy that was coming to the UK and they wanted to get some non-cloth users to review them. The brand was Smartipants and reading over the details of the cloth nappy I thought it sounded pretty simple so why not test it and see how I feel about cloth nappies against our current disposables.

Confidence

I loved it. In fact, it changed my whole opinion on cloth nappies. I bought a few cloth nappies and went part time using cloth during the day and disposables at night and when we went out, I wasn’t confident enough to use them anywhere outside our own house just yet. But then I got sent other cloth nappies to review and soon I met with snap-in-one nappies, fitted nappies, sized nappies, different types of wraps, different brands with their unique and innovative ideas and suddenly I became a cloth nappy addict with an insane amount of cloth nappies!

Venturing out with cloth nappies

My love just grew and I was now using Close Parent Pop-in bamboo with booster for nights as well as my Little Lamb bamboo with wraps on my son and we even started to venture outdoors with cloth nappies in our changing bag. The nappy bin (due to living in a flat going up and down stairs just to bin a disposable nappy wasn’t ideal or easy!) was collecting dust and only used on very rare occasions.

Soon my son was walking (I have a video of him taking his first steps in a Close Parent Pop-in) and then potty trained and finally toilet trained. It was the end of an era for me and suddenly I felt I had lost my little blog. But then I popped out a girl and now back loving cloth nappies, hanging them out in our garden (we bought a house!) with pride, taking photographs and instagramming daily with #flashyourfluff to help promote modern cloth nappies.

Campaign

Over the years I’ve campaigned to get cloth nappies more known to the general public and had a lot of praise and backing from places such as Boots, Tesco and Sainsburys (who all stock some brands of cloth nappies) and got my local council to raise awareness and setup a real nappy incentive scheme. My dream is to normalise cloth nappies like before and promote modern cloth nappies. Maybe it’ll happen one day. I can always dream!

Spotlight on Nature Babies

Nature Babies – is located in Leicestershire, the former heart of the British clothing industry now sadly abandoned by the likes of M&S. Isobel of Nature Babies has used that tradition and experience to her advantage. All the Nature Babies range is made in their factory in Wymeswold. ‘Made with love, designed for life’

Nature Babies makes everything for the cloth nappy user from traditional luxury terry squares in cotton or bamboo to the ever popular Diddy Diaper and ultra reliable wraps, or the Stuffable one-size pocket. Furthermore Nature Babies is a niche manufacturer of those useful little extras such as vest extenders, boosters, fleece liners, washbags and wipes. Made in Britain and available from stockists throughout the UK.

nature babies

Inspiration

Billy asked Isobel “What inspired you to start Nature Babies?”

She replied “I was inspired to start Nature Babies when my second daughter was born. I could not find any cloth nappy items available locally . When my first daughter was born 10 years previously my mother bought me a load of terry nappies and I loved them!!

Innovative

Billy quizzed Isobel “Can you tell us what your favourite product in the Nature Babies range is and why?”

Isobel said “My favourite item is the Essential Wrap in our lovely range of prints and colours, I feel they are my most innovative item and they are a must have for any baby using a two-part nappy system.”

Spoil yourself

Billy asked “What top tip would you offer to someone considering using cloth nappies for the first time?”

Isobel responded “My top tip would be to buy plenty of nappies and bulk up with some flat ones i.e. terries, prefolds etc to take away the stress of having to get just a few washed and dried in time. Also I always advise folks to save up all the cash they would have spent on disposables and save it for themselves for something nice such as a hairdo etc. That way you really notice the money you have saved by not buying disposables.”

Environmentally Friendly!

Billy asked “What do you enjoy most about your job?”

Isobel replied “As a single parent what I enjoy most about my job is the fact that I can take time off when necessary to take Jade to the orthodontist etc or pick her up from here, there and everywhere that would be a problem if I didn’t work for myself also I love the fact that what I do is environmentally friendly!”

Nature

And finally Billy asked “When not busy working what is your favourite way to relax?”

Isobel said “When not working my favourite way of relaxing is with a coffee at the local garden centre……. I love being outside in nature and listening to the birds”

If you would like to find out more about Isobel’s product range you can find them at www.naturebabies.co.uk and a number of other UK retailers.

You can also find her on Facebook www.facebook.com/naturebabiesnappies
