A Little Bit About us....
In late January 2013 some nappy retailers were musing about the fact the old principles of Real Nappy Week seemed to have died a death. The week had seemed to become a scrappy discount fest amongst the retailers all trying to gain business from their own customers, rather than a fun and innovative week to educate the rest of the world about the benefits of cloth nappies.
Real Nappy Week was started 18 years ago – you can read a short history here - and was a week of creating news stories, a week of running events and above all a week to encourage people who might never have considered cloth nappies to dip a toe in the water and discover that real nappies aren’t rocket science, they are easy to use, are lovely and soft, and above all, aside from saving tonnes of waste they do work out a heck of a lot cheaper than disposables.
With a few heads together a plan was hatched…and Billy was born.
His mission is to boldly go where no cloth bum has before with a huge Facebook presence to generate interest, to publicise events, and to encourage participation from current cloth users to spread the word. There’s a great resources section to provide everything from action plans, ideas and posters to create Real Nappy Week Events. For those that have followed Billy to our site to find out more generally about cloth nappies there are guides to choosing cloth nappies and how to use them, details of events to attend so you can see cloth nappies, nappy libraries where you can look at and hire nappies to try, contact details of council discount schemes and vouchers, a list of UK manufacturers and retailers by county so you can find somewhere near you to buy, and much more besides. All the real nappy resources you need in one place.
Finally, and just for fun, we have a competition running for the whole of Real Nappy Week – the first and only, Great British Nappy Hunt, register for our mailing list HERE.
If you are a manufacturer or Retailer and would like to donate prizes, or to be involved in the NEXT Great British Nappy Hunt please click here. We’ll be announcing prizes and our supporters throughout this campaign both on this website and via Twitter and Facebook.
The 2015 Team - Let us Introduce Ourselves.........
I'm Miranda from Twinkle Twinkle, we've been going since the early days of ecommerce in 1999, when less than 5% of the population used cloth nappies, and there were very few brands about. We specialise in advice and have downloadable guides on our site to help you. We are also happy to help if you have a problem even if you didn't buy nappies from us. I'm delighted that there is renewed interest with the advent of popular modern all in ones, as to many cloth nappies still has the 'old' image of terry squares and pins with boiling and soaking. For folk worrying about this I'd just like to reassure them it's only a small change of routine - into the washing machine rather than binning, but the biggest difference will be in your pocket, with average savings of £500. Unless, that is, you get tempted by some of the very pretty designer nappies!
Nappy Go Lucky
Hello from West Wales. My name is Sarah and I have 3 daughters who have all been testers for the business. We stock a range of nappy brands and accessories and like to support 'Made in Britain' products as well as some of the top international brands.
We have created our own range of reusable wipes kits, Wipey Wipes, which are made in UK by a social enterprise in Swansea along with a range of reusable wetbags under a new label sarahmac designs.
We offer demos in Carmarthenshire and Swansea and sell online across the UK and beyond.
Hi! I'm Sarah from Nappy Geek! Nappy Geek was born out of Sarah’s desire to help new and expectant parents through the minefield of choosing washable nappies. We run Nappuccinos and Home Nappy Demos to give parents a hands-on approach to discovering the various types of nappies available; to compare the nappies against each other and to enable parents work out which nappies will work best for them.
We aim to make the process of choosing nappies as painless as possible and help parents find the right nappy for their circumstances.
